My neighbor, Alethea Murphy was almost killed by drunk driver
who fled the scene, drawing a minimal sentence and who will soon be able to pick
up his life where he left off. Alethea, however, had a brain injury and lost her spleen,
and may never be the same. She has three wonderful children and a loving husband
who all must deal with her injuries on a daily basis. Her husband, Bryan, broke
his back working hard to support his family and has been fighting for 4 1/2
years to get social security disability for these injuries. He has been unable
to return to work. They are behind on rent are being evicted. Their bills are piling
up.
Their children are all honors students. Their oldest son, Bryan, 17 is captain of the football team and finished 7th in the State for wrestling last year. Their daughter Kylie, 14 plays the cello, and their youngest son, Donovan, 9 is a whiz at anything he does. Any help even just one dollar would be greatly appreciated and put to good use.
Now their landlord is throwing them out in the street, even
though the when the family received a check for Alethea’s accident, they paid a
full year’s rent with it to get ahead, and have done numerable repairs to the house
out of their own pockets. The landlord promised reimbursement for these
repairs, but never gave it. Their house is sided with asbestos.
The family isn’t looking for fancy things, furniture, or go
on vacation; they just want to get caught up on bills so their lives can get back
to as normal as possible. They live at 8 Washington Avenue, in Enfield, CT 06082
